Children’s Christmas Party Huge Success

Santa's Place

The Life Enrichment Center Children’s Christmas Party took place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2011.  A team of over 100 volunteers came together to provide a festive holiday sevent for 375 – 400 guests.

Several LEC classrooms were transformed into activity centers where children created homemade cards, decorated cookies, made ornaments or played games. There was a very popular face painting station and a Secret Shop where children selected and wrapped gifts for that special grown-up in their lives. The line to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus was non-stop all day as 240 children visited the jolly man and received gifts.  Group instant photos were provided to preserve this special memory. In addition to all of the activities, guests enjoyed a delicious hot lunch in the dining rooms. The Christmas message was shared along with carol singing in three sessions throughout the event.  A total of thirty bicycles were given away in drawings which took place at the conclusion of the sessions.

Volunteers came from many different churches and organizations to make the day possible. Patterson Park Church (Pastor David Faile and family included), First Christian Church of Huber Heights (outreach coordinator Nikki Sherck and family and her face painting crew), and Far Hills Church were some of the churches well represented. The Montgomery County SWAT team again helped in the dining rooms while a talented choir from Kettering Fairmont High School provided beautiful a capella music throughout the building. Leadership for the event included Karen Alice, Sherry Hardin, Lee Snead, Ellen Shelly, Kim Belcastro, Judi Stringer, Lori Simms, Pam Smiga, Diane Hoxie, Karen King, Lisa Helm, Ruth Perry, et. al and several of their friends and family members recruited to lend a hand.

Thank you everyone and Merry Christmas!!
