Building Renovation Progress
On top you will see the before condition of our first floor restrooms. The renovation process began in April in the men’s and women’s restrooms on the first floor. Multiple behind the wall plumbing issues were discovered and required several months to address. The final renovations and installation of fixtures were completed just in time for our Children’s Christmas Party in December. The new bathrooms have self-flushing toilets and urinals, automatic faucets, electric hand dryers, and motion activated lighting. These are a great improvement over the driping faucets and the often out of order toiltes that they replaced. These renovations were made possible by grant funds from the Dayton Foundation, the Physician’s Charitable Foundation of the Miami Valley, and Church of the Incarnation along with multiple volunteer hours and donated materials.
In addition to the restroom upgrades, smaller projects are making a big impact in the building. The computer room was relocated to the basement in the fall of 2011. This new space holds 12 computer stations and is in a room without windows so that there is no longer glare on the monitors. The main entrance had a new automatic handicapped door installed over the Christmas holidays. The previous door no longer worked and did not close tightly so that air escaped. The replacement door, along with the bathroom renovations, will provide greater energy efficiency for the building and hopefully will result in lower utility bills.
