  1. Program Increase:

This VISTA volunteer will be responsible for helping plan and coordinate the increase of programing provided by the Life Enrichment Center to its clients. This will include helping to expand or improve the following current programs: Culinary Training Program, Safety Village, and Bike Shoppe. This person will also help organize and implement the following new programs: Client Intake process, personal empowerment courses, and financial literacy course.

  1. Food Distribution:

In order to help combat the food hardship issues in our community, this VISTA member will help to plan for and implement a choice pantry program that will be provided to clients that are willing to give back to the Life Enrichment Center through voluntary service. This person will also be helping to establish a mobile market that will go into the recognized food deserts in the Dayton area to offer affordable food staples (produce, dairy, meat, etc) to the residents of the area that are generally dependent on overpriced convenience stores.

  1. Recovery Café:

In order to combat the growing addiction issues in our community the Life Enrichment Center is actively planning for a new “Recovery Café” modeled after a successful program Seattle, Washington. This program will act as a “drop-in center” offering a menu of services and sense of community for people seriously working their recovery and who are committed to accountability for their recovery. It will offer a safe meeting place, healthy programming, volunteer opportunities, sponsorship in 12 Step-like programs, all with a holistic approach. We are seeking a Vista member who is a recovering person to participate in program planning and who would work with a program director and advisory board to launch this program in Dayton at the Life Enrichment Center.
