Feed Dayton 5k
2009 Feed Dayton 5K
Raises over $6500
On the chilly, but clear morning of Saturday, April 11, 2009
a record number 170 participants completed the 5th annual
Feed Dayton 5K Run / Walk with proceeds from the race
benefitting programs of the Life Enrichment Center (LEC) and
Life Resource Centre (LRC).
The course started near the Findlay Street bridge on the Five
Rivers MetroParks' Mad River Trail and stretched into
Eastwood MetroPark and back again with signs posted along
the way to encourage participants and remind them of the
important causes they were supporting. The morning
promoted fitness, a sense of community, and an increased
awareness of hunger and other support and educational
needs among Dayton's under-served population and raised
over $6500!
45 volunteers from Wright State University, the LEC and LRC,
and the community manned the registration area, water
stations and other posts along the course, and served in the
kitchen and dining hall before and after the event. The
morning ended inside the Life Enrichment Center with brunch
and an awards ceremony.
