Life Enrichment Center Leadership

"The authority by which the Christian leader leads is not power but love, not force but example, not coercion but reasoned persuasion. Leaders have power, but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve."
– John Stott

Dave Zimmer, Board Member
A resident of Dayton since August of 2005, Dave serves as a Director on the Board of the LEC. He is an associate at the law firm of Thompson-Hine, LLP.

Ellen Shelley, Director of Programs
Ellen's role at the LEC consists of coordinating classes that relate
to the health and general education of the LEC's clients. That
includes networking in the community to invite agencies, which can add
value to the programs we offer our clients, to partner with our
efforts. Ellen also organizes health related events to benefit our
clients as well as making these services more convenient and
universally helpful to all involved.
Ellen attends the Dayton Vineyard Church in Beavercreek. However,
recently she attended the Vineyard North Campus in Dayton, where
clients of the LEC occasionally attend.
Ellen has lived in Dayton most of her life. During the years of her
formal education she lived in the "East End" of Dayton, where a high
percentage of our clients live. She is a graduate of Wright State
University, an English Education major and Journalism minor from U.D.,
OU, and Eastern Kentucky, Morehead, and Ball State University. She
retired after 30 years of teaching English and Journalism. She was
also the yearbook advisor at Fairborn High School. Throughout her
life, Ellen has served and chaired many committees; a scholarship
committee to select students for various scholarships, The Journalism
Association of Ohio, English Department Chair, advisor of many clubs
including scholastic clubs as well as Students Against Destructive
Decisions. Ellen and her husband, Kent, had a nursing home ministry
for twenty-five years (once a week at an East End nursing home). They
helped pioneer a church in Springboro, Ohio, where she served as the
Sunday School Superintendent for ten years.
"My greatest ambition in life is to follow what Micah 6:8 says that
the Lord requires of us, 'To act justly and to love mercy and to walk
humbly with my God.' I hope and pray that my time at the LEC and my
life in general reflects this requirement." – Ellen Shelley
