Operation Food Share Begins Again…HERE!

The Life Enrichment Center (LEC) is pleased to announce the arrival of a new ministry partner and tenant in our building. The program called OPERATION FOOD SHARE is a current day version of a program by the same name that was started in Dayton Ohio back in the early 1990s and ran for over six years. The concept involves retrieving fully cooked restaurant food that has been properly prepared and handled and then stored in a frozen state until picked up and redistributed as part of the food distribution chain. This program will aid those who are experiencing food shortages or food insecurity in our local community. Some food will also be shared among various local organizations to supplement their primary sources. The idea behind Operation Food Share was ahead of its time in the 90’s and is needed now more than ever in the current economic climate.

Initially, the rebirth of this successful program will operate as a program within the LEC. Operational start up funding has already been secured. This program will eventually become a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Until then the program is eager to become a tenant and part of the ministry team at the LEC.

Bill Evans, retired Executive Director of the House of Bread, will be the part time Executive Director of Operation Food Share during this initial startup stage. He officially started his new ministry challengeĀ on February 14, 2011 and will be sharing more information with the hunger community as the program evolves.

Bill may be reached at 937-732-6685, or by emailĀ edward516@sbcglobal.net
